Nothing is impossible for God! 04/19/2012
I was talking to a friend yesterday and he told me about a message he heard Sunday from the pastor of a local church. Nothing is impossible for God! We have heard this scripture so many times but he put a little different spin on it. We often times ask God to help us with many issues in our lives. We also believe that He will help us. So, if we have faith as of the grain of a mustard seed we can say to a mountain; go throw yourself into the sea and it has to obey us, we also have to realize when we ask God to help us and what we are asking for lines up with the His Word, it becomes impossible for God to do NOTHING! He is bound by His word, He has given His word for all mankind to see, hear and read. When we put God in remembrance of His Word, He has to act on that word. It is impossible for Him not to! So Nothing is impossible for God! Think about it, and the next time you pray, pray fervently within the confines of His word, let His word come alive and prove that it is impossible for God to do nothing! Just a tid bit to to roll around.....Let me know what you think... Add Comment The Ten Recommendations for Long Life! 03/07/2012
After the children of Israel had been delivered out of bondage by God through Moses and Aaron, they headed toward a new life and a new land. It wasn't long until they started to forget the hardship they endured while in bondage with thein Egyptions and began complaining that Moses had just brought them out into the desert to die! Everyday God would provide manna for them to eat, He would give them enough for that day. Now at first that was great! I mean just walk outside the front door and there was food everywhere. The thing about manna, at least from my understanding, is that it tasted like whatever they wanted it to taste like. But they got tired of having to walk outside and pick up a days supply of manna, they had forgotten that they used to have to build brick from straw and mud. They had forgotten the cruelty of the Pharoh and his men. Now they didn't have to plant and wait for a harvest, they didn't have to till the ground, they just had to pick up enough for that day. Then the people decided they needed a set of rules to live by, if they only had some rules to guide them and govern them. So In Exodus chapter 20, God gave them the Ten Commandments: 1 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 2 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 3 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 4 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 5 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 6 Thou shalt not kill. 7 Thou shalt not commit adultery. 9 Thou shalt not steal. 9 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 10 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. While Moses was on the mountain talking to God and getting the Ten Commandments the people began to complain and talked Aaron into building a golden calf as an idol to worship. They didn't feel like God was big enough to handle their problems. The ones that did not stand with God were swallowed up by the earth and killed. Even after the Ten Commandments were given to Moses so he could give them to the people that had asked for them, they could not keep the rules. Today, we are no different than the children of Israel. God provides us what we need for the day. Yet we are not grateful for His provision and we complain because we are worried about tomorrow. When God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses it was and still is God's Law. It is a perfect law and it is the standard that we can live by. Our laws of the land were developed around the Ten Commandments, and yet even today we cannot keep them. We look at the Ten Commandments more as ten recommendations than commands. If we break one of the Ten Commandments we are telling God they don't matter. Now all have sinned and come short of the glory of God... we all will fall short and sin from time to time, the real question is do we do it intentionally or do we do it because we are human and not perfect. If we premeditate our sin, if we think it out first, if we argue with ourselves before committing it, we are in effect telling God that His law is nothing more than a list of recommendations and if it fits into our plans we will follow them. Exodus 20: verse 12 tells us to Honor our father and our mother: that our days may be long upon the land which the Lord our God gives us. Is this a recommendation or is this perhaps wisdom to allow us to have a longer and happier life? If we will honor our parents we will be able to learn from their experiences and avoid having to go through many of the sorrows they experienced. So many times we see both children and adults who are disrespectful and show no consideration for others. Those people generally do not and did not honor their parents. Honor is something awarded to a hero it is not given to a coward! It takes courage to stand up for what you believe, it takes courage defend those things that have taken generations to attain. We enjoy many freedoms in the United States of America, Each and every one of those freedoms came at the cost of someones life. For every freedom you enjoy listed in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights you can look back in history and find thousands of men and women that have "given" their life as a sacrifice for us to have those freedoms. It took men and women of courage to be the heros that fought and died so we could live a free and prosperous life. We can be a hero today! Don't be like the children of Israel, don't spend 40 years wondering in the desert because you want everything your way! The Ten Commandments are not Ten Recommendations, they are the laws by which we all should live and must live if we are Christians. If we will stand up for the Ten Commandments and not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we will be a hero where it really matters: in the eyes of God! Be a hero Today! I stumbled across this video this afternoon. I watched it three times and cried from the overwhelming anointing in this child's voice. I thought of all of the music he had to choose from, this boy chose to sing about the Lamb of God! You can see in his expressions and hear in the powerful, and passionate delivery, that he BELIEVES what he is singing. There is no fear, no intimidation, no hesitation. This child is not ashamed of Jesus! Watch and be blessed! If this doesn't move you, find a jack hammer and break up the stones around your heart! Self-ish or Self-less 01/15/2012
_ This morning I did something in NBC KIDZ that really opened my eyes. Discipline was a challenge this morning, more than usual. While I was preparing to receive the offering there was a barrage of energy not so much in a good way, coming from the kids. I decided to do something a little different. I asked everyone that wanted to talk to their neighbor and cut up and play games to move to the right side of the bleachers and the ones that wanted to here the lesson to move to the left side of the bleachers. Most of the kids went to The right and a hand full went to the left. I moved to the left bleacher section and carried on with the lesson while allowing the right side to talk and play games. I allowed the kids on the left that entered into the lesson to participate in the rest of the service but intentionally conducted the service so the kids on the right could not hear me. At the end of the service I went to the right bleachers and explained to the kids that this morning they had chosen themselves over Jesus. We left the service and to be honest I just began thinking about what I was going to eat for lunch! On the way back to church Sunday night, I began to revisit the morning service. I realized that we make the decision to chose Jesus or chose ourselves and our selfish pleasures everyday. when we chose to serve Jesus we become open to the blessings and promises of the Lord and are assured eternal life. When we seek our own selfish pleasures we close the door to the blessings of the Lord and place ourselves outside the gate of eternal life and guarantee our place in eternal darkness and torment. I remembered how there more of the kids that chose to go to the right than the left. More chose selfish pleasure than the lesson of Jesus I thought of the verse in Revelation that says: in the last days even the elect will be deceived. there will be a great multitude that will continue to chose their selfish pleasures and only a few that will chose God. Broad is the path that leads to destruction, but narrow is the gate that leads to righteousness. It broke my heart when I thought of the decisions of the children. Even though we are trying to teach them the importance of their decisions they still don’t fully understand the impact of what they do. Every day the first decision we make is whether we will serve God that day or whether we will serve our earthly pleasures. As I told the kids this morning, we will continue to make this decision every day of our life, one day we will make that decision for the very last time, I hope you make the right decision. Will you stand before God and have him look in the book of life and find your name or will he look in the book of life and say depart from me worker of iniquity for I never knew you. It is important for us to realize the magnitude of our daily decisions. Since none of us are promised even one day, we may have to live with our decisions for an eternity. Have a Blessed Week; Pastor "C" A King Who Desires to Honor 01/08/2012
One day while the King was in his palace, Mordecai was standing at the gate waiting to hear some word of how Ester was doing, and how she was progressing with the King. As he waited he overheard two of the kings eunuchs, who were doorkeepers, talking. The were angry with the king and wanted to lay hands on him and kill him. When Mordecai heard this he sent a message to Ester and told her what was going to happen. Ester then told the king in Mordecai’s name and when they investigated, they found it was as he had said and the two eunuchs were both hanged for trying to harm the king. There was another man in the king’s palace that was second in command, his name was Haman. Haman did not like Modrecai and wanted him dead. He couldn’t just kill Mordecai so he set up a plan to destroy all of the Jews in the king’s kingdom. As time went on Mordecai continued to to be a source of irritation for Haman, so one day while he was talking to his wife they decided to build a gallows over fifty feet in the air and hang Mordecai! The night before Haman was going to hang Mordecai the king couldn’t sleep so he had one of his servants bring him the books that told of events of the kingdom and read it to him. One of the entries in the book was about Mordecai and what he had done to save the king’s life. The king asked his servants, what has been done to honor Mordecai for this deed? The servants inserted and said, nothing has been done to honor Mordecai! The king learned that Hamna was in the outer court of the palace and sent for him. Now Haman was a very proud and conceited man, the king asked Haman, what should be done to a man that the king wants to honor? Haman figured the king wanted to honor him, after all he was the second in command and he was able to do anything he wanted. Haman answered and told the king, take some of your royal clothes that you have worn and put them on the man, and take one of your crowns that you haves worn and place it on his head. Then take one of your royal horses that you have ridden into battle and let the man be placed on the horse. After that have one of your royal subjects of high authority lead the man throughout the city and proclaim that this is what the king does to a man he wants to honor! Haman was just beside himself, he just knew the king was going to do this for him. Then the king said, Haman, go and do everything you have just said, exactly like you said. Don’t leave out even one word! Do this for…Mordecai, for he is the man the king wishes to honor! Can you imagine how angry Haman must have been? That he was going to have to show honor to the one man in the kingdom that he hated and wanted to destroy! But, as a subject of the king, he had to obey him. So Haman did exactly as he had described to the king for Mordecai. Of course now that the king had just honored Mordecai, there was no way he was going to be able to hang him. God will take that which is set out to be for our destruction and turn it around for our good. Isaiah 54:17 says “ No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of Yahweh, and their righteousness which is of me,” says Yahweh.” So the next time trouble comes your way believe in the Lord your God and he will protect you. Psalms 34:19 “ Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all.” So remember that we will have trouble, we will have problems but if we continue to believe and remain strong in the Lord, He will deliver us…Just Never Give Up! We serve a King who desires to honor us and He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He is the King above all other Kings. His name is Yahweh, Jehovah, Rebellion has Consequences! 01/01/2012
_ In the days of King Ahasuerus, the king had the authority to grant you life or death. If he was pleased with you for something you had done he could reward you with honor, a position of authority, or even riches. If he was displeased with you he could have you tortured, beaten, hanged or any number of other forms of punishment. During the feast that King Ahasuerus had given he called to have his queen, Queen Vashti come to him wearing her royal robes and her royal crown. She refused to obey the king’s command. This caused the king to become very angry and since he was giving a feast and all of the leaders of all of the provinces that he ruled were there, he was embarrassed because his queen, who was one of his subjects had refused to obey him. This was just unheard of. The king turned to his leaders and asked them what he should do to the queen. This again was a custom of the day, that the king would ask advise of his council as to the interpretation of the law. One of the leaders pointed out that queen Vashti’s rebellion and refusal to come to the king did not only affect the king, but every household in the kingdom. If it was okay for the queen to rebel and defy the orders of the king, then it must be okay for every wife in every house both great and small. Now the king had many options available to him, but the suggestion that was given was to take the crown away from the queen and not allow her to come before the king ever again. He then took the crown that Queen Vashti wore and gave it to another. King Ahasuerus loved Queen Vashti and as the Bible tells us she was beautiful. He really didn’t want to take the crown from her. A few days later the book of Ester tells how the king was thinking back about what he had done to the queen and it implies that he was feeling sorry that he had to do what he did. When we as christians rebel or disobey God’s Word and His commandments we suffer the same type of consequences that Queen Vasthi suffered. God has to discipline us and bring us back into line with His Word. The one big difference is that God does not take our crown away from us and tell us we can never come before his throne again. If we accept his discipline and ask forgiveness for what we have done, He forgives us and puts us back in His favor. That doesn’t mean that God likes to punish or discipline us, I believe he probably feels similar to the way I do when I have to discipline someone I care about, because you know, God has feelings too! I look back afterward and feel sad that I had to do what I did. But if we don’t have order, and if we don’t have discipline in our lives, there will be nothing but chaos and confusion. If this is the atmosphere that we live in it will impossible for us to grow in Christ and learn or hear the direction we ought to go. As parents and leaders we are responsible for our children and their well being. If we do not address rebellion, defiance and disobedience we are setting our children up for failure. We are allowing them to live under the illusion that they do not have to answer for their actions. When they get older, they will quickly realize what a disservice that was. Rebellion has consequences, it will cost us our friends, it will cost us our freedom, it will cost us our happiness and ultimately can cost us our lives. More importantly than all of these things, rebellion will cost us eternal and everlasting life with our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Today is January 1, 2012, the first day of the new year. Why don’t we make a decision today to not live in rebellion but live in the favor of our Lord Jesus. Before you make a decision that will cause you to be in rebellion, stop and ask yourselves; how is this going to affect my future? Remember, rebellion has consequences, if we are going to be in rebellion, we must understand that we must live with those consequences. In king Ahasuerus’ kingdom it cost Queen Vashti her crown. Don’t let rebellion cost you your crown! You know, God has feelings too, but he is a just God and will discipline us as we need it. As parents and leaders we must follow God’s example and also provide discipline in the face of rebellion, defiance, and disobedience. This is the only way we can insure that our children will be able to live blessed and prosperous lives. Remember what the council for King Ahasuerus said, it not only affects the King’s house but every house throughout the kingdom. It is no different today. Our actions, both good and bad affect not only our lives, but the actions of every life around us. Look to your left and right, how many lives can you affect today? When you are at school, look to your left and right, how many lives can you affect? When you are at the store or just walking down the street, how many lives can you affect? The truth is, we affect every single life we come in contact with. We either speak life into the person next to us or we speak death and destruction into that life! The power of death and life are in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Joshua 23:16 says: when you disobey the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow down yourselves to them. Then the anger of Yahweh will be kindled against you, and you will perish quickly from off the good land which he has given to you.” Don’t let this happen to you! Chain Of Command 12/18/2011
_Today we are going to talk about the chain of command and how it works. In everyday life, business, law enforcement, and military there is a chain of command that must be followed in order to keep everything operating in an orderly manner. The chain of command is like the rungs on a ladder. If a 10' ladder only had one rung (step) on it and it was at the 10' level that ladder wouldn't be of much good. In order for the ladder to be useful there needs to be rungs about every 12". Otherwise it loses its effectiveness. In the United States Army there is a chain of command similar to the ladder. It has rungs or steps on it at regular intervals. At the bottom is a Private, above him is a Corporal, then sergeant, staff sergeant, sergeant first class, master sergeant, first sergeant, sergeant major command sergeant major and sergeant major of the army. The chain continues in the officer's rank as a 2nd lieutenant, 1st lieutenant, captain, major, lieutenant colonel, colonel, brigadier general, major general, lieutenant general, general, general of the army and finally the commander in chief ( THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES). The private receives his orders and instructions through the chain of command from the general. Once the general has issued his orders he has the confidence that those orders (instructions) will be carried out. The private, once he has received those orders, has the same authority as the general to make sure those instructions are executed and carried out. Each one of the people in the chain of command has a different level of authority on his own but ultimately has complete authority given him by the President of the United States. When someone enters the military, they take an oath that they will uphold the constitution of the United States and defend it from enemies both foreign and domestic. This is the President's way of giving every member of the military a certain level of authority. Because this has been issued from the President, soldiers understand that they do not have to wait for instructions or anyone to tell them in order to defend our country. If the General is thinking about an order but never speaks those orders to the soldiers under his command, they have no power, he may have all of the authority in the world, his orders and strategies may be good enough to win the wars in one fell swoop, but if he never issues those orders they will not accomplish anything. On the other hand, if he does issue the orders and the soldiers under him do not carry them out, if they take it upon themselves to think thy have a better way, those orders are of no use and the authority that goes with them are no good. In the same way, once we accept Jesus as our personal savior and join God's army, we are issued orders and we take an oath to defend our salvation from enemies both physical and spiritual. Jesus has issued us orders that give us authority over demons and those obstacles that would prevent us God's word is True! Pastor C 12/18/2011 NBC Kidz Don't Get Burned! 12/14/2011
_A note from Pastor "C"'. I was reading John 15 the other day and came across something that jumped off of the page at me; verse 6 says, If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned. Jesus is telling how we are the vine and God is the Farmer, he tells how in order to produce as much fruit as possible a vine has to be pruned from time to time. He also says if a vine does not produce fruit is is cut off and thrown into the fire. He tells us that if we will remain in Him and allow His Word to come alive in us, we can ask whatever we desire and He will do it for us! Now that's a pretty awesome promise! Then in verse 6 he tells us what will happen to us if we don't follow His advice; we will be thrown out as if we have withered and died, we will be thrown into the fire and burned! That sounds pretty serious. If we want to have this promise that Jesus is telling us about we must follow His Word otherwise we will be thrown into the fire and will be burned. I believe Jesus is warning us about a destination called hell if we don't follow His Word and His teaching. If you want to have the promises of God then you must follow the instructions given here in John 15: 7 If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you. 8 “In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples. 9 Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love. 11 I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full. 12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. So read your Bible and pray everyday. Ask God to give you direction in your life and ask Him to help you be fruitful.
